AceShowbiz - Good news for Song Hye Kyo and Park Bo Gum fans! The two actors have been confirmed to star opposite each other on the upcoming drama titled "Boyfriends".
The "Descendant of the Sun" actress and the "Reply 1988" star were previously reportedly to be in talks for the roles on "Boyfriend", but now they've been confirmed to be appearing on the series. "Actress Song Hye Kyo and actor Park Bo Gum have been confirmed to appear as the leads of the drama 'Boyfriend'," a representative of production company Bon Factory says in an official statement, adding that they are currently in the midst of pre-production.
Hye Kyo will take on the role of Cha Soo Hyun, a woman who has never been able to truly lead a life of her own. As the daughter of a prominent politician, she is forced into an unhappy marriage with the heir to a wealthy conglomerate at a young age. However, she eventually ends up getting divorced.
Soo Hyun's life takes an unexpected turn after meeting Kim Jin Hyuk (Bo Gum). The latter is an ordinary, innocent young man who knows how to find happiness in the small things. Written by Yoo Young Ah ("My Annoying Brother", "No Breathing"), the drama will offer a heart-wrenching romance between the two characters, who appear to have nothing in common. The romance will end up wreaking havoc on both of their lives.
"Boyfriend" will be Hye Kyo's latest TV series following her mega-popular drama "Descendant of the Sun", on which she played opposite now-husband Song Joong Ki. Meanwhile, Bo Gum last appeared in historical drama "Love in the Moonlight". He also joined tvN's reality show "Hyori's Homestay 2" alongside Girls' Generation's Yoona.
Bon Factory is known for producing currently-airing "What's Wrong With Secretary Kim". "She Was Pretty" and "Master's Sun".
Currently in talks to air on tvN, "Boyfriend" is set to premiere in the second half of 2018.
