The 'Time to Say Goodbye' hitmaker was supposed to headline Boundless Summer event at Bowood House in Wiltshire, England.

AceShowbiz - Singer Katherine Jenkins has expressed her dismay after a summer festival gig was cancelled due to low ticket sales.

The star revealed the bad news that she would no longer be headlining the A Boundless Summer event at Bowood House in Wiltshire, England to fans on Twitter on Thursday, June 21.

"With heavy hearts, the organisers have decided to cancel the Bowood House festival in July, so regretfully I am no longer able to perform for you all," she wrote. "I hope you can make it to another of my shows this summer."

In a statement posted on Bowood House's website, Boundless' head of brand and events, Darren Milton revealed that the event, which was to feature gigs from Katherine, 37, and piano maestro Jools Holland on July 21 and 22, would no longer go ahead due to poor ticket sales.

"It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce the cancellation of A Boundless Summer concerts at Bowood House," he explained. "Despite working with some exceptional talent and a fantastic venue, with the level of ticket sales, it will not be possible to provide a successful and viable event."

Disappointed festivalgoers are being offered full refunds, plus free tickets to UB40 and The Gipsy Kings' concerts taking place at Borde Hill Garden in West Sussex earlier in July.

Coincidentally, it is not the first time Jools and Katherine have both been due to headline an event that was cancelled due to poor sales.

In 2008, both were due to play the Dysart Festival in Thomastown, Ireland - but the event was downsized without them on the bill after take-up of tickets was slower than organisers expected.
