AceShowbiz - Actress Morena Baccarin is "really annoyed" an underwater scene she filmed for "Deadpool 2" didn't make the finished movie, because she had to face a "huge phobia" to complete the shoot. The "Gotham" star, who portrays Vanessa, the love interest of Ryan Reynolds' titular Marvel mercenary, in the film, had to be submerged in water for the scene.
"It actually did not end up in the movie, which I'm really annoyed by!" she confessed on breakfast show "Good Morning America", before explaining the set up.
"I have a huge phobia of being underwater," she continued. "I swim for exercise but like, scuba diving is not my thing, and I had to do some scuba training [for the movie] because we sunk basically an apartment set 20 feet underwater and... it was this dream sequencing.
"It ended up not working, but I had to be strapped into a chair underwater... with weights on me so I wouldn't float up, and act the scene out, with no goggles or anything on...!" she added.
Morena struggled to make her character appear at ease on camera during the shoot, and she has a sneaking suspicion the look of terror in her eyes forced director David Leitch to ditch the scene in the editing room.
"I think that's why it didn't work, because my face was like, [showing fear]," she mused. "I was like, 'Don't you guys have special effects [for this]?'".
And while the actress was freaking out inside, her co-star Ryan was fully comfortable hanging out underwater, much to her displeasure.
"Ryan, by the way, was calm...," Morena said. "He's just standing there, doesn't need his [breathing apparatus], totally calm, fine, swims up to the surface [at his leisure]. I'm like, I hate you! I can't do anything like that!".
"Deadpool 2", which also co-stars Josh Brolin and Zazie Beetz, opens in theatres this week, ends May 18.
