Even though there were some controversies ahead of his performance, Justin Timberlake successfully delivered an amazing show at the Super Bowl LII's halftime show. The 37-year-old singer belted out some of his hit songs at the U.S. Bank Stadium on February 4.
Opting for a cowboy look with a jacket with tassels and a forest-printed shirt, Justin began his 9-track performance with the lead track off his latest album "Man of the Woods", "Filthy", at the backstage. He then went out to field while belting out "Rock Your Body".
As he went up to the stage, he took the chance to introduce his own band, the Tennessee Kids. After that, he sang another hit song "SexyBack", dancing with the dancers while taking off his jacket. Justin later delivered a rock rendition of "My Love" before following it up with "Cry Me a River". During this performance, he went down to the field for a dance break session.
After a blackout, a big group of marching band took the stage, accompanying Justin for a performance of "Suit & Tie". Justin decided to slow things down by delivering his ballad hit "Until the End of Time" while playing the piano. He also paid tribute to Minneapolis rock legend Prince during the show, covering the late musician's "I Would Die 4 U".
"Two fingers in the air for Prince tonight," he told the audience members, who had been given small LED lights that turned a purple tint. Justin was not alone during this performance as a video of Prince from the movie "Purple Rain" was being projected on a large sheet.
The Tennessee-born singer/actor reportedly planned to include a hologram of Prince to join him at the halftime show, but the idea was met with immediate backlash from Prince's friends, family and fans. This was because Prince once voiced his disapproval of the technology.
Back to Justin's halftime show performance, the singer closed the show with renditions of "Mirror" and "Can't Stop the Feeling". Justin made his way to the crowd during his performance of the Oscar-nominated track, taking a selfie with a young fan.
