Another TV revival is here. CBS is set to bring back its critically-acclaimed series "Murphy Brown" for a brand new 13 episodes. The multi-camera revival is done as a way to celebrate the Emmy-winning show's 30th anniversary.
The network announces on its press release that "Murphy Brown" will "return to a world of of cable news, social media, fake news and a very different political and cultural climate." It marks the first straight-to-series order for the network's 2018-2019 season.
Adding the excitement, Candice Bergen will be reprising her role as the titular investigative journalist. Diane English, the original creator of the classic comedy, is set to produce the upcoming revival alongside the original producers. English will also serve as the writer while Bergen joins her as executive producer.
"Murphy Brown" ran for 10 years on CBS from 1988 to 1998. Also starring Faith Ford, Pat Corley, Charles Kimbrough and Robert Pastorelli, the comedy earned 62 Emmy nominations and won 18 of them. The iconic show also snagged three Golden Globes and three Screen Actors Guild Awards. Bergen herself took home five Emmy trophies for her role as the sharp-tongued journalist on the series.
One thing that people may remember about the comedy is that it was part of the 1992 presidential campaign. Vice President Dan Quayle slammed the series in a speech for its portrayal of a single mother, who raised a child without a father.
The "Murphy Brown" revival follows other old comedies, which are also getting a reboot treatment on their respective homes. They include NBC's "Will & Grace" and ABC's upcoming "Roseanne".
The upcoming "Murphy Brown" revisit is set to air during the 2018-2019 TV season. It is currently unknown, however, whether the other original cast members will be returning alongside Bergen.
