The 'Treat You Better' hitmaker, along with Scott Harris, also says that there should be no difference when it comes to friend and that people should show support and love however they can.

AceShowbiz - Singer-songwriter Teddy Geiger has announced on Instagram that he is transitioning, receiving a lot of supports from fans and friends. Among them is Shawn Mendes. The "Treat You Better" hitmaker, who is rumored to be dating Hailey Baldwin, shows his support by saying that there is no difference when it comes to friend.

Shawn emphasizes that in times of transition friends and family should do "anything we can" to support him. "Be a friend first off and that's kind of all we're thinking of," he says. "[People should] support and love and be there however you can, because it kind of is a hard thing to figure out how to support and remember they're your friend. There is no difference."

Shawn's other longtime collaborator, Scott Harris, also shows his support for Teddy, saying that friends should treat each other like homeys. "First and foremost, a friend is a friend -- so just treat them like a homey," he says.

Shawn has been working with both Teddy and Scott since 2015, releasing hit songs such as "Stitches", "Mercy", "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back" and "Treat You Better", which won Song of the Year at 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards. In an interview with MTV News, Shawn revealed that they could produce nice songs because they understand each other.

"There's this thing that I think that we really connect on that level, where they both kind of really understood what it was like to be the singer and be the performer. [They] understand that the music we're writing," the "Mercy" crooner said. "You have to love it, otherwise you're just going to go nuts performing it on TV."

The trio recently performed together at Spotify's Secret Genius Awards, singing "Treat You Better". Also at the event, the trio revealed that they just wrapped up writing for Shawn's next album.
