AceShowbiz - Get the first look at FOX's upcoming procedural drama series "9-1-1", which hails from "American Horror Story" masterminds Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear. The 1-minute trailer of the star-studded series debuted during Game 3 of the World Series.
Peter Krause's police officer character opens the video as he is featured talking to a pastor in a church. "It must be hard being a first responder. Would you ever consider a less stressful position?" the pastor asks, to which he responds, "Never."
The first part of trailer gives you some kind of comedic, light vibe as it is backed with a cheerful score. Emmy-nominated actress Connie Britton is heard saying in voiceover, "There are two types of emergency. The first kind is the one we all have every day," before a scene of a woman getting chocked by a huge cobra python flickers on the screen.
One of the co-workers of Krause's character suggests to just punch the snake on its face. "We can't just punch a snake on the face?!" Krause's character says, before later letting the co-worker hammer the head of the python.
Things take a serious turn when Britton's character, a 911 operator, introduces the second type of emergency. "[It's] the kind that comes without warning," she says. Angela Bassett's character is briefly glimpsed. She is featured walking with a gun in her hands, indicating that some serious matters await. Elsewhere in the trailer, Krause's character is trying to stop a suicidal woman from jumping off a high building, but fails.
"9-1-1" follows the lives of first responders such as cops, paramedics and firefighters. They are thrust into a situation where they must try to balance saving those who are needed to as well as solving the problems in their own lives. The 13-episode series also stars Aisha Hinds, Rockmond Dunbar, Oliver Stark and Kenneth Choi.
"9-1-1" is set to air in January 2018 on FOX.
