Bruce Paddock, the brother of Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock, was charged on Wednesday, October 25 with possession of child pornography. TMZ reported that the 59-year-old man was taken into custody in North Hollywood, California at an assisted living home.

He was later booked at 8 A.M. Bruce, who was in a wheelchair, was seen being loaded into the back of a van by Los Angeles Police Department officers.

According to documents filed on Tuesday in L.A. County Superior Court, Bruce was charged with 20 criminal lists, all of which related to possession of child pornography or the sexual exploitation of children. One complaint accused Bruce of having more than 600 pornographic images of children or youths, including 10 or more images showing prepubescent minor.

TMZ further reported that cops were tipped that Bruce saved child porn on his computer. Sources also said to the news outlet that the investigation began before his brother Stephen killed 58 people after opening fire on a crowd of concertgoers in Las Vegas earlier this month.

LAPD said in a statement that the investigation of Bruce began after evidence was found in a Sun Valley business where he had been squatting. Bruce was reportedly homeless at the time before police tracked him recently to the North Hollywood facility. "In case there may be victims of unreported incidents" who might see it and report to authorities, the LAPD released a photo of Bruce.

"[Bruce] Paddock had been squatting inside the business and after his eviction, the evidence was discovered," the LAPD statement said. "At the time of the initial investigation Paddock was a transient and could not be located."

An LAPD spokesman, Josh Rubenstein, revealed that the investigation was not related to the shooting massacre in Las Vegas, saying that it was the result of an independent investigation by the LAPD.
