AceShowbiz - Kris Wu spreads his wings further into the American entertainment industry. After making his Hollywood debut through "XXX: Return of Xander Cage" and releasing "Juice", on Wednesday, October 11, the former EXO member released a new single entitled "Deserve", grabbing rapper Travis Scott (II) alongside him.
Produced by Louis Bell, "Deserve" is built with sensual rap and trap beat. Wu and Scott keep going back and forth, trading lines to one another as they rhyme, "Runnin' on the low-low, but I know that you interested/ I just made a call, you and your girls is on the guest list (yah, ya)/ Maybe you're still liquor, but I swear I wanna French kiss (it's lit)/ And that body on you girl, I promise that's impressive."
In an interview with Beats 1 Radio, Wu revealed that he and Scott recorded the single together in the same studio. "So I had a sound camp about, I think was last year over the summer," he said. "So great producers, writers, you know, everyone revolving and one of them said that he reached out to Travis Scott and he was actually in New York. And then we threw out this idea of collaborating. He was really down and he flew out, like from New York to LA and then we mend the studio kicking it, vibe out a little bit and then we, you know, just got on the record and just made it an amazing record."
He also remarked that he would rather fly to another continent than working through internet when it came to music. "I'm based out still in China, in Beijing, but I try to fly every time when I make music," Wu said. "And I think it's so important that you want to be in the room these people making these together cause I think that's what's all about."
Following its release, "Deserve" topped both U.S. iTunes Top Songs Chart and U.S. iTunes Hip-Hop Songs Chart in less than 3 hours. The singer wrote on his Instagram, "#1 in less than 3 hours! Thank you EVERYONE for the love and support! #DESERVE."
Wu and Scott also teased pictures from their music video shooting, including one which shows them hanging out with girls.
