The lead singer of the rock band of the same name was injured onstage when a stage prop fell on him and caused him to fall backwards during his performance at Hammerstein Ballroom.

AceShowbiz - Marilyn Manson has canceled nine dates of "Heaven Upside Down" Tour following an onstage accident on Saturday, September 30 in New York. "Marilyn Manson is being forced to cancel several of his October dates on his forthcoming US tour," a representative for the singer said in a statement on Sunday.

"On Saturday night, the legendary performer suffered an injury on stage towards the end of his set at NYC's Hammerstein Ballroom causing him to cut the show short. He was treated for the injury at a local hospital and will be recuperating at home in Los Angeles," the statement continued.

The rep added, "The shows from Boston, October 2 through Houston, October 14 will be rescheduled for a later date. Manson hopes to return to the stage soon, more details on upcoming shows to follow." According to the rocker's itinerary, he's currently scheduled to resume to be back on the road on October 15 with a gig at Grand Prairie, Texas' Freaker's Ball.

Manson was injured during his performance at Hammerstein Ballroom. The band was about 45 minutes into their set and was performing their cover of Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" when a podium, framed by two giant fake pistols, which Manson began to climb, wobbled dramatically. Manson fell backward and then the prop fell upon him.

In a video taken by fan during the incident, the stage crew rushed to help and lift the falling prop back up. Meanwhile, the band kept playing for several moments until they noticed that the singer was not getting up. The house and stage lights were down for several minutes until an announcer came out and said the show was over "due to injury."

Manson was later seen taken into an ambulance on a stretcher. He was rushed to a New York City hospital, but the severity of his injury is currently unknown.

The band's "Heaven Upside Down" tour just launched two days ago in Maryland and is scheduled to go through until the end of October. New dates of the postponed dates are not announced yet. The band's new album, "Heaven Upside Down", is set to be released on October 6.
