Alicia Vikander Looks Fierce as Lara Croft in 'Tomb Raider' First Trailer

The intense trailer features the British archaeologist setting off on a journey to find a tomb called the Mother of Death after her dad left a message about a threat that endangers the entire world.
The first full trailer for the highly-anticipated remake of "Tomb Raider" is here! The newly-released trailer offers fans glimpses at the intense action scenes and features Alicia Vikander as British archaeologist Lara Croft, who looks badass with her signature costume consisting of military pants and tank top.

The over-2-minute video opens with Lara running into the woods before it jumps to a scene where she shows up at his dad Richard Croft's (Dominic West) company. A woman, presumably Richard's colleague who is played by Kristin Scott Thomas, can be seen telling her, "Lara your father's gone, you can pick up where he left off," as Lara solves a puzzle containing a key.

The key belongs to a room where her dad has left a video message about a tomb called the Mother of Death and a threat that endangers the entire world. Lara then can be seen setting off on a journey that's practically not going smoothly. She also gets to show off her skill with a bow and arrow.

In the new "Tomb Raider" movie, seven years after the disappearance of her father, 21-year-old Lara has refused to take the reins of his global business empire, instead working as a bike courier in London while taking college classes. Eventually she becomes inspired to investigate her father's disappearance and travels to his last-known location: a tomb on an island somewhere off the coast of Japan.

Suddenly, the stakes couldn't be higher for Lara, who-against the odds and armed with only her sharp mind, blind faith and inherently stubborn spirit-must learn to push herself beyond her limits as she journeys into the unknown. If she survives this perilous adventure, it could be the making of her, earning her the name Tomb Raider.

Directed by Norwegian filmmaker Roar Uthaug from a script by Geneva Robertson-Dworet, the action fantasy flick is scheduled to arrive in the U.S. on March 16, 2018. Produced by Graham King and Gary Barber, it also stars Walton Goggins, Daniel Wu, Alexandre Willaume, Leo Ashizawa, Adrian Collins, Vere Tindale and Hannah John-Kamen.
