George Clooney Says His Twin Babies Have Opposite Personalities

The 'Suburbicon' director opens up on the personality traits of his twin son and daughter and explains why he chose usual names for them.
George Clooney talked about his twin babies. During an interview with his "Suburbicon" star Matt Damon during press tour at Venice, the actor/director revealed to the personality traits of his son Alexander and daughter Ella.

"They start out with a personality right off the bat. [Alexander] is a thug already...He's a moose! Literally, he just sits and he eats," George told Entertainment Tonight. Matt Damon jokingly chimed in, "He looks like he could bounce right now, some place in Hollywood." George added, "Like, checking IDs on the way into the nursery." Meanwhile, he continued, "[Ella]'s very elegant, and all eyes. She looks like Amal, thank god."

The dad also explained why he and his wife Amal Alamuddin chose popular names for their children. "We figured these kids are going to be looked at a lot and watched and [have their] every move sort of judged, and we wanted them to at least have a break with the names," he said. "So we looked for some sort of normal names. We didn't have any great inspiration. It wasn't Alexander the Great and Ella Fitzgerald."

Although he had been preparing for fatherhood since finding out about Amal's pregnancy last year, he was still caught off guard when the babies arrived. "I suppose [the realest moment is] just the minute they came out," he explained. "None of it is real until all of a sudden they're standing there covered in slime and crying. You're like, 'wait a minute, what is that? We were just two and now we're four.' Everything changes pretty quickly."

"Suddenly, you're responsible for other people, which is terrifying," he said in a previous interview. "Right now my job is changing diapers and walking them around a little bit. I really didn't think at 56 that I would be the parent of twins. Don't make plans. You always have to just enjoy the ride."

George and Amal made their first red-carpet appearance together at 2017 Venice Film Festival on Saturday, September 2 in Venice, Italy. He looked sharp in his tailored suit and his wife was lovely in a violet dress by Atelier Versace. The couple also enjoyed dinner with friends on Friday.
