Ellen DeGeneres is unrecognizable in a throwback picture taken when she was 15 years old. The comedian shared a retro snap of her teenage self on Tuesday, August 29 to celebrate season 15 of her talk show "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and encouraged fans to share theirs.
"In honor of Season 15, here's a photo of me when I was just about 15 (why God, why?!)," she wrote. "Now I wanna see yours. Post a photo from when you were 15 with #ellen15 and you just might see yourself on my show next week!"
A teenage Ellen rocked red curly hair and looked chubbier than now. Soon after she posted the photo on Instagram, the comment section was quickly flooded with positive responses. "Oh my wow Ellen!!! How brave u r to put that out for all to see! Lol. Bravo!" one wrote.
Someone praised her for looking younger now, "You look younger now! But you're beautiful then and beautiful now, inside and out." Another commented, "Oooh my gosh I love it and I love you! Beautiful inside and out Ellen!" One follower compared 15-year-old Ellen to "Dustin from 'Stranger Things'."
Some people couldn't stop gushing about her curly hair. "Loving the circa 70's/80's hairdo!" one wrote. Another added, "Love the currrrrly red hair so so cute eh." Other similar tweets read, "Rockin the curls!", "The hair is just so fantastic. I remember my first perm ...," and "Seriously.... Well you've matured beautifully.."
One simply wrote, "Too cute!" Another added, "Cute cheeks."
A few people, however, left mean comments. "amazing what plastic surgery can do," one of them read. Responding to those haters, one of Ellen's fans wrote, "I'm disgusted at some of the mean comments here. You were beautiful and you're still beautiful. It's this sort of social media shaming that kills our youth. Watch your words people because our kids are reading."
