The track, which marks the duo's first song in nearly ten years, was premiered during their performance at Livewire Festival on Sunday, August 27.

AceShowbiz - It's been nearly a decade since Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff teamed up for a collaboration. And now, the former "Fresh Pince of Bel-Air" stars have reunited at Livewire Festival in Blackpool, England to debut their new dance-centric song. Titled "Get Lit", the track was said to be a response to the recent "chaos and confusion" in the world.

"I wanted to make a song that allowed people to let their light shine," Smith told the crowd. "We all have an inner light and sometimes this world... People can say stuff to you and tell you you can't do and you know you can but when they tell you that it kinda knocks you down a bit right so I wanted to make a records that reminded each and every one of y'all to let your light shine."

On why they decided to reunite this year, Smith told ET, "I looked at Jeff and he was getting old, man, and I was like, 'I can't do this to this boy.' It was time. LL [LL Cool J] hit me [up and] was like, 'Dude, I'm telling you, it's time. You have no idea the love that's out there.' I was listening to L like, 'All right, I need to do it.' "

"Get Lit" is the hip-hop duo's first song since 1998's "Lovely Daze". In 2015, Smith talked about releasing new music after premiering the Latin-infused "Fiesta" as saying, "I'm pretty much poppin' in the studio everyday and I'm looking for artists to collaborate with. I've probably recorded 30 songs. I have six or seven that I really like."

"Will's been recording. We had a really good conversation because he wants to get back in recording," Jeff said at that time. "One of the things that we talk about is going from all of these stupid, giant, million-dollar studios to now having the ability to record something in a hotel room. We laugh about the amount of material we would have put out if we had had those resources."

"I want to start recording to get him back into this space that there are no rules anymore!" he continued. "Every time we do an impromptu show, he's like, 'Man, we can go out and we should go out.' And I'm like, 'I'm already out. I'm waiting for you!' "

Smith and Jeff went on hiatus a decade ago because Smith decided to focus more on his solo music and acting career. They, under the name of The Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff, have released five albums. They won their first Grammy Award in 1989 for Best Rap Performance with "Parents Just Don't Understand".
