It seems like fans have to say goodbye to Kim Soo Hyun soon. The "Producer" star reportedly will enlist to the military in September as he's nearing the age limit of South Korea's mandatory military service.
A source close to the actor claims that Soo Hyun's rep has told advertisers that he would have to complete all his scheduled activities by the end of August. "While he has not received a notice of enlistment yet, based on his current schedule, it's safe to assume that he'll enlist in September," the source adds.
However, Soo Hyun's agency, KeyEast Entertainment, has denied the rumors. "Kim Soo Hyun hasn't received a notice of enlistment yet. Therefore, it is not possible to know when he will be enlisting to the military," the agency says in a statement.
KeyEast Entertainment previously sparked enlistment rumors after they turned down several drama offers. "His current schedule will not allow [any new projects]. It is realistically not possible," the agency stated, leading people to believe that Soo Hyun would enlist soon.
Although Soo Hyun's agency has denied the enlistment rumors, many fans think that he wants to enlist soon due to the failure of his film, "Real". "Seems like he wants to lay low for a bit for two years and then come back to a new start," a fan comments on an article on Nate. "Oh no... he must've been shocked after his movie failed. He did waste 10 billion won," another adds, pointing out that Soo Hyun also invested a lot of money in the box office bomb.
Others don't believe that he hasn't received a notice to enlist. "As if I'd believe that he's 30 and hasn't received any notice yet," one of them writes. Another comments, "How can you be 30 years old and still not have received a notice? I don't get why stars try to postpone enlistment like this."
