The project starring the 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' actress and is inspired by the classic ballet story has reportedly sparked a bidding war.

AceShowbiz - Felicity Jones is heading to Swan Lake. The Academy Award and Golden Globe Award-nominated actress is attached to star in a movie from Kristina Lauren Anderson ("Catherine the Great") which is inspired by the classic ballet story "Swan Lake", according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The project has "Call Me by Your Name" helmer Luca Guadagnino attached to direct. The untitled pitch, which went on the market right before the Fourth of July weekend, has sparked a bidding war among several major studios, namely Universal, Paramount and TriStar.

"Swan Lake", composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, follows Odette, a princess that is turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer's curse. The new take will reportedly not involve any ballet but would be a tentpole film based on the story told in the ballet.

A 2010 thriller directed by Darren Aronofsky, "Black Swan", used the play as inspiration for its story, but did not follow the storyline of the classic ballet. The film earned its leading actress, Natalie Portman, an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award in 2011.

Jones starred in 2016's blockbuster movie "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" following her critically-acclaimed performance as Jane Hawking in "The Theory of Everything" (2014). The British actress also starred opposite Tom Hanks in "Inferno" based on Dan Brown's novel of the same name.
