MTV Responds to Criticism Over 'Teen Mom OG' Star Ryan Edwards' DUI Scene

Viewers slam the network for not stopping Edwards from sitting behind the wheels while he was dozing off on his way to his shotgun wedding with fiancee Mackenzie Standifer.
MTV has responded after viewers watched disturbing scene of Ryan Edwards driving impaired on "Teen Mom OG". In the season 6 finale of the reality series, Edwards appeared to be driving under the influence with his fiancee Mackenzie Standifer on the passenger seat on the way to their shotgun wedding.

Standifer looked worried as Edwards dozed off several times. His eyes were dazed and slightly shut. Edwards had to tap him several times to get him to focus on the road. At one point, she took the wheel in her hand from the passenger seat to straighten their car on the road.

Standifer then turned off cameras inside the car but the audio kept recording. She was heard asking her fiance if he took Xanax again. "Um, I don't ... I don't have any," he responded with a mumble. When Standifer pressed him, he denied it again.

After the episode aired on Monday, June 26, people questioned why MTV didn't intervene and let Edwards sit behind the wheels. The network responds in a statement, "MTV does not condone driving under the influence. Ryan's erratic behavior was due to actions that he took without anyone's prior knowledge."

Edwards has also released a statement, saying that he had completed a stint in rehab. "A little over 30 days ago, I made the decision to check myself into a rehabilitation facility. I am back home now doing well, and life could not be better. Without the support of my wife and parents I would not have been able to do this. Thank you all for your well wishes," he says.
