'The Bachelorette' Recap: Rachel Lindsay Breaks Down Over Racial Pressure
TV

Rachel opens up about the pressure of being the first black Bachelorette as tensions between Lee and other contestants erupt.

AceShowbiz - As "The Bachelorette" didn't air a new episode last week, we were distracted by "Bachelor in Paradise" scandal. But tonight, Monday, June 19, "The Bachelorette" returned to highlight its own drama between Lee and other contestants.

Things picked up right where we left off at the cocktail party, during which Eric confronted Lee for trash talking him in front of Rachel Lindsay. Lee stirred another drama as he interrupted Rachel's one-on-one with Kenny.

Dean concluded that Lee only seemed to have problem with some guys in the house, Eric and Kenny, who are both African-American. "The only people that I’ve seen Lee pick fights with have been not the people that he's used to seeing on a daily basis, from a cultural perspective. You know exactly what I mean when I say that," said Dean. "The longer Lee sticks around, the more everyone will become aware of his intolerance."

With the pressure of being the first black Bachelorette and the stress from the drama in the house, Rachel broke down in tears during interview prior to the rose ceremony. "I get pressure from so many ways being in this position," she tearfully said. "I already know what people are going to say about me, and judge me for the decisions I'm making. I'm going to have to be the one who has to deal with that and nobody else, and that's a lot." Rachel ended up eliminating Brady, Bryce and Diggy, while Lee, Kenny and Eric were safe.

The next day, the group moved to Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. Dean scored the one-on-one date. Dean faced his fear of heights as he and Rachel flew in the blimp. Later in the night, Dean opened up about losing his mom to cancer when he was 15. Rachel was moved by his story and gave him a rose. They next enjoyed a concert by country singer Russell Dickerson, where they danced and kissed.

Next, 13 men went on a group date with Rachel. They were Alex, Anthony, Peter, Bryan, Jonathan, Adam, Matt, Kenny, Lee, Iggy, Eric, Will and Josiah. After a cruise around Hilton Head Island, the guys were challenged to a spelling bee. Josiah won the contest.

In the evening portion of the date, Iggy brought up another guy's name during his conversation with Rachel. He trash talked Josiah for no reason and later casually announced to Josiah that he had just bad-mouthed him to Rachel. Josiah was understandably mad at Josiah, calling him "the lamest dude in the house" and alleging that Iggy "does drugs and shoots steroids in his nuts."

Not willing to lose his title as the villain in the house, Lee lied about Kenny when he had private time with Rachel. Lee claimed that Kenny was aggressive towards him during their earlier confrontation, but Rachel didn't want to believe him before hearing Kenny's version.

When Rachel asked Kenny what happened between him and Lee, Kenny admitted that he regretted the way he handled things with Lee. Kenny was not happy with how Lee presented the situation and confronted Lee after Rachel left. The episode was cut as Kenny told Lee he wanted to take it outside.
