'The 100' Promotes Tasya Teles to Regular, Floriana Lima Will Return as Recurring on 'Supergirl'
TV

According to co-creator and executive produce Andrew Kreisberg, Floriana's role as Det. Maggie Sawyer has been reduced because 'she's looking to pursue other opportunities.'

AceShowbiz - It seems like fans will be seeing more of Echo in "The 100" season 5. Tasya Teles, who portrays the recurring controversial character, has been upped to series regular for the upcoming season. Meanwhile, Floriana Lima's has stepped down as series regular and will recur in "Supergirl" season 3.

Tasya first appeared in "The 100" season 2 as the Ice Nation warrior, who formed a brief alliance with Bellamy (Bob Morley) when they were imprisoned by the Mountain Men. Echo was deemed as a controversial character on the series as she betrayed Bellamy before killing Ilian (Chai Hansen). Despite the betrayal, Bellamy still offered Echo a spot on the rocket to the Ark which saved Echo's life in the dangerous and deadly season 4 finale.

It has been assumed that Echo and Bellamy's relationship will continue growing beyond a mere friendship. When asked about the future of Bellamy and Echo's relationship, showrunner Jason Rothenberg recently told TVGuide.com that the two had "always had sparks" and that there would be far more to see from them in season 5. "It's been a long and winding road, and obviously that road's not over yet. They're all together in a group in space, so you never know!" Jason added.

Tasya took to Twitter to express her feeling about the promotion. "I am SO honoured, humbled and excited to be a part of #the100 family for another season! THANK YOU @The100writers @TheCW @JRothenbergTV," so she wrote on the micro-blogging site.

Meanwhile, Floriana, who used to be a series regular in season 2 of "Supergirl", will return as a recurring in the upcoming season 3. She portrays Detective Maggie Sawyer, the girlfriend of Alex Danvers (Chyler Leigh), who proposed to Maggie in the season 2 finale.

"We adore Floriana and have loved working with her to tell this inspiring story. Although she's not available to us as a series regular next season, as she's looking to pursue other opportunities, we're happy she'll be returning for multiple episodes in season 3," co-creator and executive produce Andrew Kreisberg says in a statement.

However, Floriana will still reprise her role as Maggie in multiple episodes throughout season 3. It seems like Maggie and Alex's story may not be over as we didn't actually hear Maggie's answer to Alex's proposal.

"The 100" season 5 will air in 2018, while "Supergirl" will return for season 3 this fall on The CW.
