Kim Jong Kook revealed that he got gout after eating too much protein. During an appearance on TV Chosun's "Let's Go With Mom", the "Lovable" hitmaker opened up about his health condition after refusing to eat steamed shrimp.

"I have gout. It's because I ate too much protein while I was exercising," Jong Kook explained. Gout is a kind of arthritis. It can cause an attack of sudden burning pain, stiffness and swelling in a joint, usually a big toe. "I suffered for 2 years because I didn't realize that it was gout. I just thought I hurt myself. The doctor misdiagnosed it. They only measured the uric acid levels and said it wasn't gout, but apparently you can get gout from high cholesterol as well," he continued.

"Let's Go With Mom" followed Jong Kook and his mother as they went to Vietnam for a vacation. The show promised to showcase the bond between a son and a mother. He confessed that he always travels with his mother even during holidays. "I always bring my mom around," he said. "My mom had breast cancer and she had to undergo a surgery. Back then I thought, 'My parents aren't going to wait for me.' From then on, I was determined to do everything together with her."

His mother then expressed her gratitude for her son's kind gesture. She said that he made her much happier. "I was sick before. He thought his mom was going to die. Now he always brings me along to travel and because of him, I was able to travel well," she said.
