Report says that the Grammy winner is the top choice to play the childhood friend of Simba, but she reportedly hasn't made any decision yet.

AceShowbiz - Beyonce Knowles may join "The Lion King (2018)" remake. According to Variety, the superstar is director Jon Favreau's top choice to voice Simba's childhood friend Nala in the upcoming Disney's movie.

Insiders tell Variety that Beyonce, who is currently pregnant with twins, hasn't decided on whether or not she will take the role. However, since it's a voice-acting role, the director and the studio reportedly will do their best to accommodate her schedule. The Grammy winner recently dropped out of her headlining slot at this year's Coachella due to her pregnancy.

Should Beyonce accept the role, "The Lion King" will be her first film since 2013's "Epic", in which she lent her voice to Queen Tara. Her other movies include 2009's thriller "Obsessed", 2006's musical "Dreamgirls" and 2002's comedy "Austin Powers in Goldmember".

Last February, Favreau officially announced that Donald Glover and James Earl Jones would join "The Lion King" remake. Glover will play the iconic Simba, while Jones will reprise his role as Simba's father Mufasa.

"The Lion King" remake project was announced last September, after Favreau's version of "The Jungle Book" became worldwide blockbuster. "The Lion King" will likely have the same style with "The Jungle Book", which used CGI technology and computer-generated imagery to bring the animal characters to life.

"The Lion King" is one of many projects which Disney is currently working on, besides "Dumbo", "Peter Pan", "Maleficent 2", "The Little Mermaid (2019)", "Mulan", "Snow White" and "Cruella", a pic centering on Cruella de Vil from "101 Dalmatians". The original version of "The Lion King" became blockbuster back in 1994, earning $968.5 million worldwide.
