'Power Rangers' Future Installment May Feature Female Green Ranger

'A lot of the cast and I have discussed that we think it should be a girl,' says Dacre, the actor who portrays Red Ranger in the 2017 movie.

AceShowbiz - People who have watched "Power Rangers" and waited long enough until the post-credit scene might know that there's a major hint at the next movie. And according to director Dean Israelite, the team has prepared so many exciting ideas for the next installment of the superhero film.

"There's a post-credits scene, so people should stay," the director tells The Hollywood Reporter. "It teased up the direction of what next movie could be. For people that know the brand, it's super exciting. there are so many ideas we're kicking around in the direction of where the film leads you."

One of the ideas may be including a debut of a new Ranger. [SPOILER ALERT!] The post-credit scene features a scene where a teacher is calling out all the students' names. When he calls the name of Tommy Oliver, a person in a green suit appeared sitting on the empty chair, which apparently where Tommy usually sits.

For those who don't know, Tommy is a character on the original TV series "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers". The character is also known as the Green Ranger. Fun fact, David Prank, the actor who portrayed Tommy, made an appearance alongside Amy Jo Johnson, the actress who played Pink ranger in the original film, during the final battle in the film.

Although the Green Ranger was portrayed by a man in the original story, the new character's sex is still unknown. And according to Dacre Montgomery, who plays Red Ranger in the new movie, the cast is lobbying for the character to be a female in the next sequel.

"A lot of the cast and I have discussed that we think it should be a girl. It makes it even: three girls, three boys," says Dacre, adding, "It's left blank. It's a cliff-hanger. Whoever you're going to drop into that position, whether it's a girl, it's inevitably going to create drama. It'll be interesting to drop that drama into it and see how we all relate to it and work with it."
