The first official image from "Mary Poppins Returns" lands on the web. It shows Emily Blunt as the famous nanny wearing a slightly-tipped pink hat and her signature blue coat and cape. Standing in front of Banks family house, she also carries a colorful bag in her gloved hand.
Serving as a sequel to the original 1964 movie, the film is set in 1930s depression-era London. It follows the nanny re-entering the lives of the Banks family. The children Michael (Ben Whishaw) and Jane (Emily Mortimer) are now grown up, and Michael already has his own children. They live on Cherry Tree Lane with their housekeeper, Ellen (Julie Walters).
Marry Poppins will use her unique magical skills to help the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives. She also introduces the children to a new assortment of colorful and whimsical characters, including her eccentric cousin, Topsy (Meryl Streep). Joining the ride is the optimistic street lamplighter Jack (Lin-Manuel Miranda).
Directed by Rob Marshall, the new movie is scheduled for December 25, 2018 release in the United States. Colin Firth and Angela Lansbury are also among the cast members.
