Plot details are still kept under wraps, but Black has revealed via his Twitter account that "The Predator" will be R-rated. "And, just to be clear... PG-13 is for pussies. Spines bleed... a lot," he wrote.
Holbrook and Key will play ex-marines in the movie. Munn will portray a scientist, while Rhodes plays Holbrook's best friend. Brown will play a government agent who jails Holbrook's character but is forced to let him out to deal with extra-terrestrial creatures. Tremblay, meanwhile, is playing Holbrook's on-screen son.
Earlier on, many people questioned whether Arnold Schwarzenegger would make a cameo, considering he was the lead actor of the original "The Predator". Holbrook, however, said that Schwarzenegger might not return, as Black's version would offer something totally new.
"I'm currently working on 'Predator'," said Holbrook to We Got This Covered. "It's not a sequel; Shane Black has made something totally new, somehow keeping within the realm of 'Predator' [while also being] absolutely new in terms of the story that we're talking about today, and rooted in something real. It's real fresh. I don't think you're going to see [Arnold] Schwarzenegger. It would kind of make it a gimmick. It's horror, science-fiction and a western," he added.
"The Predator" will start filming in late February. The movie will hit U.S. theaters on February 9, 2018.
