Netflix has just unveiled the first trailer for its new original sci-fi film "iBoy". It follows an ordinary teenager named Tom, played by Bill Milner ("X-Men: First Class"), who wakes up from a coma and finds himself having an extraordinary power as a side effect of his smartphone's fragments being lodged in his brain.

The trailer sees Tom running into local thugs when he visits his best friend Lucy, portrayed by Maisie Williams ("Game of Thrones"), at her home. He decides to unlock his power and turn into a hooded superhero to save his dear friend who is held captive by the gang.

Based on a novel written by Kevin Brooks of the same name, "iBoy" revolves around "an average teenager Tom whose world is turned on its head when a violent encounter with local thugs leaves fragments of his shattered smartphone embedded in his brain. He wakes from a coma to discover that returning to normal teenage life is impossible because he has developed a strange set of superpowers. With these new powers he sets out to seek revenge on the gang, who also assaulted his best friend Lucy."

Best known for her role as Arya Stark on "Game of Thrones", Williams will star in "The Book of Love" alongside Jessica Biel and Jason Sudeikis. She will also be featured in Mark Lobatto's upcoming short movie entitled "Stealing Silver". As for Millner, his last feature film is 2016's "Anthropoid".

Netflix also releases seven pictures of the movie along with the trailer.

"iBoy" is set to premiere on Netflix globally on January 27. Directed by Adam Randall, the movie also stars Miranda Richardson ("Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I") and Rory Kinnear ("Penny Dreadful"). The movie is produced by Gail Mutrux, Nate Bolotin, Emily Leo, Oliver Roskill and Lucan Toh.
