Meghan Trainor announces that her remaining 2016 tour dates have been canceled due to illness. The 22-year-old singer/songwriter took to Instagram on Thursday, December 8 to explain that her doctor had put her on "strict vocal rest" for the next two weeks.

Meghan posted a photo that read, "I posted last week that I wasn't feeling great, but was powering through the best that I could. Unfortunately, I am not feeling any better and after leaving the doctor today, I have been put on a strict vocal rest for the next two weeks."

The post continued, "This absolutely kills me because I was so excited to see all of you on the road. I'm going to go home and rest so I can get back to see you all as soon as I can. I love you so much and am so appreciative of your love and support that you constantly show me. You mean everything to me. Can't wait to see you in 2017! Love MTRAIN."

The news comes a few days after the singer was too ill to perform in Boston, shortly after announcing the Grammy Award nominees. The canceled shows include a gig at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut which was scheduled for Thursday evening, December 8. She was also slated to perform at the star-studed Z100 Jingle Ball show at Madison Square Garden on Friday, December 9.

This is not the first time Meghan has to cancel her tour in favor of vocal rest. In 2015, she had to cancel the rest of her "MTrain Tour" due to a vocal cord hemorrhage and bronchitis.
