AceShowbiz - Hours after the reveal of the first look at Boyd Holbrook's villainous role as Donald Pierce, a new report has surfaced unveiling details about two key characters in "Logan". TheWrap claims that details about Richard E. Grant's villainous role and the two-clawed female mutant known as X-23 have been revealed.
According to the site, the mad scientist who will be played by Grant is not Nathaniel Essex a.k.a. Mister Sinister, but Dr. Zander Rice. In the comic book series, he is the surgical head of Transigen, a government-type operation aiming to turn mutant children into killing machines. Additionally, sources say that the heavily-rumored Mister Sinister won't appear in the third "Wolverine" movie.
Meanwhile, Laura Kinney a.k.a. X-23 is said to be the young mutant whose hand is seen holding Logan's in the first official poster. In the comics, she is described as Logan's female clone which is created by Dr. Zander Rice before Logan becomes her mentor. According to Omega Underground, she will be played by actress/gymnast Sienna Novikov.
Directed by James Mangold, "Logan" is scheduled for a March 3, 2017 release in U.S. theaters. Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart return as Logan and Professor X respectively. They are joined by the likes of Stephen Merchant, Eriq La Salle, Elise Neal and Elizabeth Rodriguez in the cast ensemble.
Set to be based on the "Old Man Logan" comic book series, the movie follows Logan who has become an alcoholic. "He's older now and it's clear his abilities aren't what they once were. He's fading on the inside and his diminished healing factor keeps him in a constant state of chronic pain - hence booze as a painkiller," his character is described.
