The 'Florence Foster Jenkins' actor is set to play Superman's grandfather during the time when the House of El was shamed.

AceShowbiz - "Krypton" has cast "Florence Foster Jenkins" actor Cameron Cuffe to play Superman's grandfather Seg-El on the upcoming Syfy series that will take place two generations before the Clark Kent saga. "Proud to be a son of Krypton," he tweeted.

Created by "Man of Steel" scribe David S. Goyer, the prequel series follows the ancestor of Kal-El. The scion of the once prosperous El family is now living in Krypton's lowest caste after his family was stripped of its rank. He fights to bring back his family's glory.

Cuffe will share screen with Georgina Campbell. The actress plays a key role, a military cadet named Lyta Zod. She is related to General Zod, who would be Superman's future nemesis. She will have "a clandestine, forbidden romance" with Seg-El.
