Another Marvel property is heading to the small screen. Marvel and ABC Studios are developing a new half-hour comedy series based on "New Warriors" that will put the spotlight on lesser-known comic book heroine Squirrel Girl, TVLine reports.

The New Warriors are described as the junior version of The Avengers. The superhero squad consists of teenagers, including Doreen Green a.k.a. Squirrel Girl, a chipper young woman who has the proportional speed and strength of a squirrel as well as the ability to communicate with squirrels.

Other heroes to be featured on the TV show are still unknown, but in the comic books the other New Warriors members include Scarlet Spider, Speedball, Nova, Hummingbird and Justice. The project is currently being shopped to cable and streaming outlets.

There's no star attached to the comedy series, but the studios may consider to offer the lead role to Anna Kendrick. The "Pitch Perfect" star recently expressed a desire to play the character if it's brought to the big screen, telling Net A Porter, "My brother sent me a Squirrel Girl comic because he thinks I should. I don't know what Squirrel Girl does other than be half squirrel, but I could be half squirrel!."
