ABC has announced the new Bachelor and no one deserves it better than Nick Viall. The 35-year-old software sales executive was the runner-up in two seasons of "The Bachelorette" and is currently appearing on "Bachelor in Paradise".

The announcement was made on Tuesday's (August 30) "After Paradise". "I'm definitely ready for it - I'm really excited," he told hosts Michelle Collins and Sean Lowe, while former Bachelor Ben Higgins joined via video call to welcome him. Nick admitted though, "I'm more nervous!"

Nick reunites with longtime nemesis Josh on "Bachelor in Paradise" and they once again fought over the same girl, but Josh ended up winning out. "I've made my mistakes," Nick admitted. "I've had an interesting process through this journey, and it hasn't worked so far. Hopefully, things will end up on a more positive note."

With Nick starring on "The Bachelor" season 21, it's safe to assume that his relationship with Jen doesn't work out. He coyly teased, "You'll have to watch to see how it ends."

Asked what qualities he's looking for in a partner, he said, "I've always been attracted to women who are very confident and know their own self-worth - someone who makes me a better person and challenges me and isn't afraid to, you know, give it as much as I like to."

The new season of "The Bachelor" will premiere in early 2017 on ABC.
