Legendary Pictures is eying Scott Eastwood to star alongside John Boyega in "Pacific Rim 2". According to Deadline, Eastwood is in early talks with the company. If the deal is sealed, the "Suicide Squad" star would be the next young actor to join the movie.

The character Eastwood would play is still unknown, while Boyega will play the son of Idris Elba's character Stacker Pentecost. The sequel to "Pacific Rim" is directed by Steven S. DeKnight from a screenplay co-written by Guillermo del Toro, Travis Beacham and Derek Connolly.

Thomas Tull, Mary Parent, Jon Jashni and del Toro will produce the action adventure film along with Boyega and Femi Oguns under their Upper Room Productions shingle. Cale Boyter will serve as the film's executive producer. The film has just got a new release date, being set to arrive in the U.S. on February 23, 2018.

Eastwood, who starred in 2014's film "Fury", will next be seen in "Suicide Squad" on August 5 and in "Snowden" on September 16. The son of actor-director Clint Eastwood is currently filming Overdrive, Fast and Furious 8 and Live by Night.
