'Star Trek Beyond' Cannes Event Canceled Following Anton Yelchin's Death

The cast of the third installment in the 'Star Trek' reboot movie series was initially set to attend a Q and A event at the Cannes Lions advertising on Wednesday.

AceShowbiz - Following Anton Yelchin's death, a scheduled event for "Star Trek Beyond" at Cannes Lions advertising has been canceled by Paramount Pictures. The Q&A session was slated to take place on Wednesday, June 22 with the cast in attendance as part of promotional tour for the movie.

The studio said in a statement, "All of us are deeply saddened by the loss of our friend Anton Yelchin. Out of respect, we are withdrawing our participation in the previously announced 'Star Trek Beyond' event at Cannes Lions this week."

Yelchin was found dead on Sunday, June 19, after being run over by his own car at his home in Studio City, California. The 27-year-old actor was mourned by his "Star Trek" family with a tribute posted on the movie's website.

"All of us at Paramount join the world in mourning the untimely passing of Antony Yelchin. As a member of the 'Star Trek' family, he was beloved by so many and he will missed by all. We share our deepest condolences with his mother, father and family," Paramount Pictures expressed their condolences.

In the third installment of the "Star Trek" reboot movie series, Yelchin reprised his role as Chekov. The film is set to hit U.S. theaters on July 22.
