Brad Peyton will direct the film adaptation of James Wan's graphic novel 'Malignant Man' which was published by the Boom! Studios.

"San Andreas" director Brad Peyton is attached to direct the big-screen version of James Wan's graphic novel "Malignant Man". "Malignant Man" was created by "The Conjuring 2" helmer with writer Michael Alan Nelson and artist Piotr Kowalski for Boom! Studios.
"Malignant Man" centers on Alex Gates, a patient who is dying from a terminal disease. After accepting his fate, he discovers that his malignant tumor is actually an alien parasite which grants him incredible powers. With his powers, he sets out to fight a secret army buried beneath society while also remembering his past.
Wan will produce the sci-fi project at Fox alongside Boom!'s Ross Richie, Stephen Christy and co-producer Adam Yoelin. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Peyton will not only direct, but also produce the adaptation. Peyton's partner at their Factory Backwards, Jeff Fierson, will executive produce. Zak Olkewicz will write the screenplay. Matt Reilly and Ryan Jones are overseeing the project for Fox.
It's unclear when the film production will begin. Wan has another project to direct, "Aquaman", which is slated to come out in 2018, while Peyton recently wrapped the filming of "Frontier" for Netflix. Peyton will also direct film adaptation of "Rampage" video game, starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Additionally, Peyton and Johnson are expected to reunite for "San Andreas 2" and "Journey 3".
