After being previewed in some teasers as well as during the 2016 Billboard Music Awards last month, Shawn Mendes' highly-anticipated new single is finally out in its entirety. As promised, the Canadian teen dropped "Treat You Better" on Friday, June 3 at midnight as the first offering from his upcoming sophomore album.

On the track, Mendes convinces a girl that he's way better than her current boyfriend. "I know I can treat you better than he can/ And any girl like you deserves a gentleman/ Tell me why are we wasting time/ And all on your wasted crime/ When you should be with me instead," he tells the lucky girl in the chorus.

The song isn't Mendes' only present for his fans. To celebrate the release, he has shared on Twitter a new video of him performing an acoustic version of the tune, which is as amazing as the original. Clad in all-black, he shows off his signature vocals over the guitar licks.

Mendes' second studio album is expected to arrive sometime in September after he finishes his ongoing tour. The yet-to-be-titled record serves as a follow-up to last year's "Handwritten", which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard 200 and spawned the massive hit "Stitches".
