The first trailer for "Monster Trucks" has arrived online for viewing pleasure. In the approximately two-and-a-half-minute video, a high school senior named Tripp (Lucas Till) discovers a friendly, tentacled alien while working on his truck in a junkyard.

Tripp later finds out that the squishy alien not only loves to attach itself to his truck, but can also serve as a super-powered engine for his junky old car. He takes his monster truck out for a joyride with his girlfriend (Jane Levy) and helps the alien reunite with its family.

"Monster Trucks" also stars Amy Ryan, Rob Lowe, Danny Glover, Barry Pepper and Holt McCallany. It was originally set for May 29, 2015 release, before Paramount Animation pushed it back three times.

Directed by Chris Wedge from a script by Jonathan Aibel, Glenn Berger, Derek Connolly and Matthew Robinson, the live-action, sci-fi action film is coming to U.S. theaters and RealD 3D on January 13, 2017.
