Sinead O'Connor accused Arsenio Hall of supplying Prince with drugs prior to his death through her Facebook post earlier this week, and now the comedian is suing the Irish singer. Arsenio filed a defamation lawsuit against the "Nothing Compares 2 U" singer on Thursday, May 5, at a Los Angeles court, demanding $5 million in damages.
In the papers, Hall claims that O'Connor is an "attention-seeker" who is "desperate" and "has maliciously published outlandish defamatory lies" about him, though they haven't been in contact "in 25 years." "The malicious statements made by O'Connor are absolutely false and O'Connor's heinous accusations that Hall engaged in this criminal conduct are despicable, fabricated lies," so read the documents.
Hall's lawyers also state in the documents that O'Connor is "now known perhaps for her bizarre, unhinged Internet rants as for her music" and that she "is well known for her media antics and for seeking attention through inflammatory Facebook posts and other attention-grabbing media tactics."
The drama began on Monday, May 2 when O'Connor took to Facebook to accuse Hall of supplying drugs to the "Purple Rain" singer. A day later, she posted a lengthy message against Hall, adding that if he omits some words from his name, it "sounds like Arse Hole, in a Limerick accent."
