AC/DC was in the middle of a U.S. tour and has 10 shows left in the jaunt when doctors ordered Johnson to "stop touring immediately or risk total hearing loss." In their announcement on Sunday, April 17, the band said Rose "kindly offered his support" to help the band complete the tour. A deal was made and Rose would appear for the first time with the band on a 12-show European leg starting on May 7 in Lisbon. He would return Stateside on TBD dates for the postponed U.S. gigs.

"AC/DC band members would like to thank Brian Johnson for his contributions and dedication to the band throughout the years," the band said in a statement. "We wish him all the best with his hearing issues and future ventures. As much as we want this tour to end as it started, we understand, respect and support Brian's decision to stop touring and save his hearing."

No words from Johnson yet. Just hours after the announcement was made, Rose took the stage with %cSlash% and %cDuff McKagan% of Guns N' Roses as well as AC/DC guitarist and founding member %cAngus Young% at 2016 Coachella concert. Rose performed while sitting on a chair because his left leg was in a cast.
