Taron Egerton, Jack Reynor Among Actors Shortlisted to Play Young Han Solo

Adlen Ehrenreich, Blake Jenner and Jack O'Connell are reportedly also among the final contenders to play the iconic character in one of the upcoming 'Star Wars' spin-offs.

AceShowbiz - Disney and Lucasfilm are apparently close to finding their young Han Solo. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the list of potential candidates to play the iconic character made famous by Harrison Ford has been narrowed down to a group of young actors including Taron Egerton ("Kingsman: The Secret Service"), Jack Reynor ("Transformers: Age of Extinction") and Alden Ehrenreich ("Hail Caesar").

Justin Kroll of Variety later added via Twitter that Blake Jenner ("Everybody Wants Some") and Jack O'Connell ("Unbroken") were also among the final contenders. Disney, which had met with more than 2,500 actors in order to find the right man to play young Han Solo, has declined to comment on the news.

Whoever gets picked for the role will appear in the untitled stand-alone Star Wars film II which will be directed by Chris Miller and Phil Lord based on a script penned by Lawrence Kasdan and his son Jon. An origin story about Han Solo and his best buddy Chewbacca, the film is scheduled to begin filming next January for a May 25, 2018 release.
