Madonna May Be Banned From Philippines After She 'Ridiculed' the Flag at Concerts

Although she might be unaware of the country's law on wearing a flag in any entity, the 'Rebel Heart' singer could be held liable for the violation.

Madonna and the Philippines are not getting along well. The American singer may be banned from re-entering the country for disrespecting its flag during her concert in Manila earlier this week.

During her sold-out shows on Wednesday, February 24 and Thursday, February 25, the 57-year-old entertainer allegedly "ridiculed" the country's flag. Chief of the heraldry section of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, Teodoro Atienza, told radio station dzBB on Friday that Madonna wore the flag and made it touch the floor.

Under the country's law, wearing the flag "in whole, or part, as a costume or uniform" can cause the person to "face deportation and might not be able to return to the country." Atienza added, "She also allowed the flag to touch the stage floor, which is another violation."

In this case, the singer and the concert producers could be held accountable for the violations even though they were unaware of the law. There is no response from the concerts organizers yet.

This is not the first time that Madonna's use of a country's flag had been considered offensive. Earlier this month she wrapped herself in Taiwan's flag while performing in the country, angering the Chinese who consider Taiwan a province.

Madonna, who is supporting her "Rebel Heart" album in the jaunt, will be performing in Singapore next on Monday, February 29.
