Disney unleashed "Pete's Dragon" first teaser trailer during ABC's "The Wonderful World of Disney: Disneyland 60" special. The video offers a look at the modern-day reimagining of the 1977 classic children's movie.

At the center of the story is Oakes Fegley's titular character Pete, who is an orphaned boy living in the woods with a giant green dragon called Elliott. His survival story and his life when he's back in the city are among the things previewed in the video, which also offers a glimpse of the dragon.

"Pete's Dragon" is directed by David Lowery, who also penned the script along with Toby Halbrooks. It stars Bryce Dallas Howard as Grace, a park ranger who discovers the existence of Elliott, Robert Redford as Grace's father, Wes Bentley as local mill owner Jack, Karl Urban as Jack's brother, and Oona Laurence as Natalie, Jack's daughter who befriends Pete.

The synopsis reads, "For years, old wood carver Mr. Meacham (Redford) has delighted local children with his tales of the fierce dragon that resides deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest. To his daughter, Grace, who works as a forest ranger, these stories are little more than tall tales...until she meets Pete. Pete is a mysterious 10-year-old with no family and no home who claims to live in the woods with a giant, green dragon named Elliott. And from Pete's descriptions, Elliott seems remarkably similar to the dragon from Mr. Meacham's stories. With the help of Natalie, an 11-year-old girl whose father Jack owns the local lumber mill, Grace sets out to determine where Pete came from, where he belongs, and the truth about this dragon."

The remake is set to hit theaters across the nation on August 12.
