The former MTV reality TV star regrets comparing the cancellation of his show to the terrorist attack fifteen years ago.

AceShowbiz - Spencer Pratt offered an apology after landing in hot water for comparing the cancellation of his reality show to the 9/11 tragedy that killed and injured many people. "['The Hills' getting cancelled] was our 9/11," the former MTV star initially tweeted.

The TV personality who starred on the show with his now-wife Heidi Montag then returned to the social media to express his regret for the insensitive comment. "I want to apologize for making a such a thoughtless analogy," the 32-year-old star wrote.

"I'm not going to make dumb celebrity excuses about being taken out of context," he added. "I just said something dumb and potential hurtful to a lot of people and that's all there is to it. I'll likely say something dumb again, but I know I need to check myself on this one. Again, apologies to anyone I offended and for being insensitive. Much love, Spencer."
