The 'Les Miserables' actress defended her fellow Oscar winner against internet criticisms that she was rude to a reporter who asked her a question at a Golden Globes backstage interview.

AceShowbiz - Although many people accused Jennifer Lawrence of being rude to a reporter at the Golden Globes, there's at least one person who didn't agree with what people thought and believed that the "Joy" actress was dryly joking at the time. Anne Hathaway took to Facebook to defend Lawrence, saying that her "scolding" at the awards show "was taken out of context."

"Dear the Internet, It's become pretty clear that the Jennifer Lawrence 'scolding' was taken out of context and that she was dryly joking with a journalist who was indeed using his phone to take photos of her," Hathaway wrote.

The "Les Miserables" actress demanded social media users and all people that were disappointed with Lawrence's remark to "not continue the sad" and not punish her for what she had done. "Let's not continue the sad but common practice of building people - especially women - up just to viciously tear them down when we perceive them to have misstepped. Jennifer is a beautiful, talented, wildly successful, popular, FOUR TIME OSCAR NOMINATED young woman. Please let us not punish her for these things," Hathaway continued.

Lawrence caused a stir after she scolded the reporter who asked her about her win at the awards. It happened when the reporter stayed focused on his phone while talking to the actress. The reporter had not even finished his question, but Lawrence suddenly interrupted, "You can't live your whole life behind your phone, bro. We're at the Golden Globes. If you put your phone down you'd know that."

Shortly after Lawrence did that, the moment went viral and some speculated that the reporter was a foreigner and he used his cellphone to assure that his language was correct. The society had since accused Lawrence of being disrespectful to a person who was learning a new language.
