Bruce Willis's Role in 'Die Hard: Year One' Will Be Bigger Than Expected

Director Len Wiseman hinted that the John McClane depicter would not only appear at the beginning and the end of the upcoming movie.

AceShowbiz - Since "Die Hard: Year One" was teased recently to be a prequel that would focus on a younger John McClane, it was believed that Bruce Willis would be involved as a cameo to open and close the film. However, in a new interview with /Film, director Len Wiseman hinted that the speculation was not true, suggesting that Willis would have a bigger role in the upcoming movie.

While promoting "Lucifer", a FOX series he's producing, Wiseman was asked whether Willis' McClane would only appear in two scenes. "He will be more present than that. This character of course is modern day and the origin story if you can call it that has ramifications on present day McClane," Wiseman explained. "What it's not is it's not a cameo bookend scenario. It's a prequel/sequel hybrid that I really haven't seen before and is incredibly different."

Continung the interview, Wiseman admitted that he was really interested in the story of McClane and his wife Holly's relationship. "I also just really wondered what was the relationship," Wiseman said. "When did he first meet Holly? It's actually the love story that has not been told."

Holly was portrayed by Bonnie Bedelia in "Die Hard" and "Die Harder", but the character has not been seen in any other "Die Hard" movie. Considering the fact that director Wiseman wanted to explore the origin story of McClane and Holly, there's a possibility that Bedelia would appear in the upcoming movie. However, when asked about the matter, Wiseman refused to give any information.

The sixth installment of the "Die Hard" movie franchise is expected to arrive in the U.S. in 2017, with Samuel L. Jackson expected to be back to reprise his "Die Hard with a Vengeance" role as Zeus Carver.
