The Wildabouts bassist was arrested on the day Weiland died aboard their tour bus after cocaine was found in his headquarter.

AceShowbiz - Just two days after Scott Weiland's cause of death was revealed to public, news came about his bandmate's fate. Tommy Black, who was arrested the day Weiland died on December 3 in Minnesota, is freed from drug possession charges related to Weiland's death.

Police searched the tour bus where Weiland died and stumbled upon a small amount of cocaine near Black's headquarter and close to where Weiland's body was discovered. Black was immediately taken to police station for possession of a controlled substance and later released on bail. On Friday, December 18, medical examiner ruled that Weiland died of an accidental overdose of cocaine, alcohol and methylenedioxyamphetamine or MDA.

Alternative Nation reported on Saturday that police dropped all charges against Black because it was too difficult to prove whether the drugs that caused Weiland's death belonged to the bassist or the frontman.

Deputy Bloomington Police Chief Mike Hartley also told PEOPLE, "[The narcotics] were found in a bunk and obviously with several people residing on a bus a number of people could have potentially possessed those narcotics, so at the end of the day we decided not to pursue charges against him." Black later shared both articles on his Facebook page.

Weiland had a history of drug abuse. His wife Mary Forsberg-Weiland initially denied that he was using again, saying "He was the best he has ever been". But she later penned a letter published by Rolling Stone, saying Weiland's substance abuse had affected their two children tremendously over the years. "The truth is, like so many other kids, they lost their father years ago. What they truly lost on December 3rd was hope," she wrote.
