Kara was dealing with family drama while at the same time trying to stop whatever Astra has planned in the midseason finale of "Supergirl". In "Hostile Takeover" which aired December 14, Kara came face to face with her aunt Astra who believed that her niece would stop her from carrying out her evil plan.
[SPOILER ALERT!] When Kara had a chance to kill Astra, she didn't do it. Astra was taken to the DEO where she revealed a shocking truth about Kara's mother Alura. Astra revealed that Alura was the real enemy on Krypton.
When Astra and her husband Non tried to save Krypton from ecological suicide, Alura opposed to their unorthodox methods. Alura even used Kara to lure Astra out of her hiding and then sent Alura and Non to Fort Rozz. Thus, Krypton exploded. This, of course, complicated Kara's memories of her mother.
But Astra's imprisonment was just a distraction so that Non and his minions could carry out their real agenda, which was the invasion of Lord Technologies. Fans have to wait until the show's return in 2016 to find out how the showdown between Kara and her uncle ends.
In the meantime, Kara's boss Cat has pieced together puzzles regarding Supergirl. She asked her assistant to take off her glasses and it confirmed her guess that Kara is Supergirl. "Oh snap, suddenly you look just like Supergirl! You looked nothing like her seconds ago, but with the glasses off I totally see it! High five!" Cat said, proud of herself for solving the mystery.
"Supergirl" returns Monday, January 4 at 8 P.M. on CBS.
