Director Paul Thomas Anderson Leaves Robert Downey Jr.'s 'Pinocchio'
Movie

The Warner Brothers adaptation of Geppetto's wooden puppet no longer has a director after the 'Inherent Vice' helmer exited.

AceShowbiz - A Warner Brothers adaptation of "Pinocchio (2018)" which has Robert Downey Jr. attached as Geppetto has lost its director, Jeff Sneider learns. Paul Thomas Anderson was originally tapped to serve behind the lens, but now he leaves the movie about a wooden puppet who wants to become a human boy.

WB is not the one eying a "Pinocchio" remake. Disney is also developing a live-action adaptation with Peter Hedges ("The Odd Life of Timothy Green") hired to pen a script loosely based on the original story which follows the puppet whose nose grows when he tells a lie as he goes on a quest to become a real boy.

Back in 2011, Guillermo del Toro also revealed his plan to do a stop-motion project which offered an edgy take on the classic tale. In the meantime, a reference to the famous puppet can be found in "Avengers: Age of Ultron". Ultron quotes Pinocchio song "I've Got No Strings" as he goes rogue.
