Chris Rock Confirms He Is Returning to Host 2016 Oscars

The 'Grown Up' actor is officially tapped to serve as an emcee for the upcoming 88th annual Academy Awards.

AceShowbiz - Chris Rock is officially announced as a host for the 88th annual Academy Awards which will take place February 28, 2016 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. "Look who's back. #Oscars," he wrote on Twittter. The comedian added in a statement, "I'm so glad to be hosting the Oscars. It's great to be back."

"Chris Rock is truly the MVP of the entertainment industry," producers David Hill and Reginald Hudlin explained why Rock was chosen for the job. "Comedian, actor, writer, producer, director, documentarian - he's done it all. He's going to be a phenomenal Oscar host!"

The funnyman first hosted the Oscars back in 2005, and it reportedly became the second-most-viewed Academy Awards ceremony of the past 10 years. The most-watched one was hosted by Ellen DeGeneres in 2014. This year, Neil Patrick Harris took the job.
