Alex Giannini, an actor whose face will be seen in Tom Hardy gangster film "Legend", died at the age of 52. He passed away on Friday, October 2 just an hour before he was due to take the stage.

Giannini's agent Felix de Wolfe revealed the sad news via Twitter, citing natural causes as reason of the death. "The talented and much loved actor @GianniniAlex died suddenly of natural causes yesterday. An incredible life force has left the building," de Wolfe tweeted Saturday.

The late actor was scheduled to appear in Plymouth production of "Mack & Mabel" on Friday night. The show was eventually canceled but the Theater Royal later confirmed all future performances would go ahead as scheduled. "Thank you to everyone who was affected by last night's cancellation, for your patience and understanding," the theater wrote on its official site.

Giannini portrays gangster Antonio Caponigro aka Tony Bananas in "Legend" which hits U.S. theaters in November. His other acting credits include "Elizabeth: The Golden Age" and TV series "Borgia".
