The actor who portrays Dominic Toretto uploaded some photos on social media which indicate that he wanted Cohen to helm the upcoming movie.

While making "Fast and Furious 8" is a no-brainer, the movie has encountered a major problem before starting the production. It has no director attached yet after "Furious 7" director James Wan decided to leave the project. With director's chair left vacant, star Vin Diesel reportedly wants Rob Cohen to serve behind the lens.

Diesel posted a photo on Instagram which features himself along with "Fast and Furious" cast and crew members. He kept reminding fans that it's Cohen who united him with Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez and the late Paul Walker. Cohen was also the one who introduced him to his producing partner Neal and created the brotherhood among the cast and crew members.

Diesel also posted another photo on Facebook which features himself, Walker and the director embracing each other. Diesel seemingly wanted to reminisce about the memorable moments he had with his co-stars. Considering that the photos he uploaded include the photograph and shout-out to the director, Diesel presumably is campaigning for Cohen as "Furious 8" director.

In 2001, Cohen launched the car-racing franchise with "The Fast and the Furious". The film grossed $207 million at the worldwide box office against a budget of $38 million. Cohen asked Diesel to join the cast of the first movie before a script was even ready. That's maybe the reason why Diesel wants Cohen to helm "Fast and Furious 8".
