The family of Cathriona White has issued a heartfelt tribute in the wake of her sudden death. In a statement released to Independent.ie (via Mirror Online), the family stated, "The family of Cathriona White sincerely regret the untimely passing of their beloved daughter and sister. Cathriona was a shining light in our lives who was loved deeply by her entire family. We will miss her terribly and at this difficult time we ask to be left in private to mourn our loss."

White, the on-off girlfriend of actor Jim Carrey, has reportedly committed suicide at 28. The Irish beauty's body was found at her Los Angeles, California home on Monday night, September 28, after two friends arrived at the property to check on her. There were pills found next to her body which then led officials to suspect drugs overdose. She, moreover, left a suicide note for Carrey which referenced their break up on Sept. 24.

Carrey himself has paid tribute to White soon after news of her death surfaced. "I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona," the 53-year-old actor said in a statement. "She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt."
